Estate agents who are members of the Dutch Association of Estate Agents (Nederlandse Vereniging van Makelaars, NVM) can use MIDAS MarktPositie (Market Position) to automatically calculate the value of a house in any given location.
The web application performs the valuation using a central database (MIDAS) containing extensive data about millions of Dutch house sales that were conducted through the NVM. The MIDAS database is constantly updated with information from the NVM exchange system. The valuation model used to process the most recent sales figures is an advanced and fully automatic econometric system.
NVM commissioned Q Delft to build the software for MIDAS MarktPositie. It was developed in close collaboration with Q Delft’s partner, Momentum Technologies, which developed the valuation method. MIDAS MarktPositie was created in a number of different versions. The version that was completed in April 2007 contains a number of major additions to the user interface, the most important of which is the ability to display a map showing houses of similar quality to the house being valued. In addition a number of minor improvements were added, including enhanced sorting and printing capabilities, export to Excel file format, and a means of restricting access for certain user categories.
Through the development of MIDAS MarktPositie, among other projects, Q Delft has made an important contribution to further raising the level of professionalism and quality of the services provided by NVM estate agents.
