Together with research agency and subcontractor ResearchNed, Q Delft is responsible for both the technology and the content of the education selection database (SKI database) of SURFfoundation. The education selection database can be accessed on-line at www.studiekeuze123.nl and is also used for policy research and in commercial information products.
The education selection database contains a wealth of high-quality information about the accredited higher education establishments in the Netherlands, both publicly and privately funded. In addition it contains data about the facilities offered by the various educational establishments and the towns in which they are located. The information is provided by a number of sources, including the annual national student survey, an annual labour market survey conducted among alumni by the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA), and data obtained from the Central Statistics Office (CBS), the Student Information Office (InformatieBeheerGroep), the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO), the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), and the Higher Vocational Education Council (HBO-Raad). Some of the information is supplied directly by educational institutions.
In collaboration with SURF a transition project was started up with the purpose of transferring the services of their previous supplier to Q Delft and ResearchNed. A quality level improvement formed part of the transition. The work involved analysing all the sources used for the SKI database, with the available products being assessed both on content and ICT merits.
